Sea Kayak Tuition
Have you thought about a private lesson or getting a group together to work on your paddling skills? We will help take your paddling to the next level. We routinely provide sessions on: Strokes, Rescue Techniques, Rolling & Surf Skills. You can bring your own kayak or use one of ours. Prices are based on the number of people in your lesson and how many hours you would like. We can facilitate training weekends for your paddling group or club.
"For the third year I have returned from upstate New York USA to South Durras NSW, Murramarang National Park, its six wilderness crescent beaches and its wonderful sea kayaking. When I first surveyed the coast on a road trip from Sydney to Mallacoota, it was quite obvious that Phil MacDonnell’s and Carolyn Morey’s Bay and Beyond Sea Kayaking Tours was unique. For my purposes, it was probably the only outfit that could be called a true professional guide service on Australia’s SE coast, one that could safely take me and family members out on open water.
Phil is a safety-oriented, conscientious and experienced guide/instructor who is capable of dealing gracefully with beginners, but is also game for teaching advanced skills such as launch and land in surf, and rolling in waves. Carolyn is equally competent. They have a professional’s interest in meteorology and sea state and access the latest reports online each morning—crucial to a successful day on this very changeable stretch of ocean coast.
Some of my best memories of hands on instruction are at South Durras: clear blue water and sky at Cookies Beach; surf of graduated height as you move 200 meters north of the put in; Phil standing next to me as I learn broaching (allowing waves to hit my kayak broadside without capsizing. I look forward to this, each wave a more friendly challenge. All in all, I think South Durras and Bay and Beyond combine to create an ultimate kayaking destination—and this in global terms."
